Will you be meeting with my child alone?

That depends on the unique circumstances of the child and family.  Generally, for preschool and young elementary school age children, the parents are part of the session.  As a child gets older, there may be more reason to meet with me alone either for play or talking therapy.  Teenagers and older will generally be meeting with me alone.  Even if I meet with a child alone, parents will have a check-in time either befoplaytherapy2re or after my time with their child.  There may be times when I ask to meet with parents alone or even with the whole family (including siblings) if warranted by the circumstances.  I believe that part of my job in treating the child is to monitor and try to improve the emotional functioning of the family as a whole.
